Hörbar: Matheus Souza & Jan Wegmann / Goran Lazarević / Ayse Glass

Matheus Souza (b. 1997) is a composer, improviser, and performer from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His work centers on the composition and performance of electroacoustic music and on free improvisation, spanning a wide range of formats, including solo live electronics, acousmatic music, audiovisual, and mixed music compositions.

Jan Wegmann (*1992 in Stuttgart) is a multimedia artist, composer and performer from Hamburg. Their work focuses on small details, giving them space to unfold and showing overlaps and tensions between different materials. They create drifting structures of layers, sometimes abstract, sometimes ironic, but always combined with the goal of a holistic and concentrated result.

Ayse Glass is a musician/singer/songwriter from Izmir, Turkey. She sings in Turkish, Greek, Hebrew and English, inspired by life with a feminist approach. She has performed in various orchestras, theatres and festivals and also composes music for films.

Goran Lazarević's main spheres of interest lay in live-electronics, microtonal music, free improvisation and computer music, as well brain-computer musical interfaces (BCMI) and cognitive sciences. His works were performed in Germany, Austria, Vietnam and Serbia.Apart from his own work as composer, performer and researcher, Goran Lazarević is a strong believer in the power of education, and is currently working as a project coordinator for the the Hamburg Open Online University (HOOU) at the University for Music and Drama in Hamburg (HfMT).

Hörbar: David Wallraf / Hex Vortex / John Hughes & Dong Zhou

HEX VORTEX is the brainchild of Berlin's NOISE TESTAMENT festival creator, known for his booking activities as OBNOXIOUS OUROBOROS. After having played guitar and bass in a dozen bands from 1995-2020 he moved to the Harz Mountains right before the pandemic started, spent countless walks thru the mountains and sleepless nights to come up with the idea, the sound and the setup of HEX VORTEX. Using his musical experience of three decades and improvisational talent to record everything live on the spot onto two tracks and ever evolving his authentic style of heavy psyched out ritualistic industrial dub, harsh brain melt drone, weird electro kraut and hard hitting rhythmic freeform noise.

David Wallraf works with noise in Hamburg. The resulting audio works explore the acoustics of the uncanny: Field recordings, electromagnetic waves and obsolete audio technology are woven into soundtracks for the nightmare of ‘capitalist realism’. Wallraf's works are released internationally. In February 2025, the album Crudelta Necessaria is released on the Berlin label Karlrecords, and around 80 records have been released since 2013.

John Hughes, a bassist and composer originally from the US, has been a prominent figure in Hamburg's jazz and free improvisation scene since 1998. He has organized numerous festivals and concert series, including the award-winning Multiphonics Hamburg, and currently curates the monthly Audible Instances series at Westwerk.

Dong Zhou (no pronouns) is a composer-performer based in Hamburg. Zhou won several prizes, including the first prize in the 2018 ICMC Hacker-N-Makerthon, the finalist of the 2019 Deutscher Musikwettbewerb, and the Nota-n-ear Award 2022. Zhou had works included in the ‘Sound of World’ Microsoft ringtones collection and was commissioned by festivals and institutions such as the Shanghai International Art Festival, ZKM Karlsruhe, Stimme X Festival, etc. Zhou is currently a doctoral candidate in ICAM of Leuphana University, a member of Stimme X e. V. Zeitgenössisches Musiktheater Norddeutschland and Deutscher Komponistenverband Hamburg.
