<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none"><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial">Last year
they released their debut LP Manifold on the Belgian Kraak label. Recorded in
two days on a crappy four-track and mixed with the use of an old tape echo, the
songs hint to long forgotten Belgian wave, to the drunken lo-fi sadness of
Drunk elk and the parlando driven poetry/synth unit The Shadow Ring. One way or
the other, MAAN exhibit an authentic and highly original approach to music: a
cold scientific methodology, used to analyse the inhuman strategies behind
human emotions. That and a sense for mature songwriting. Performances of
Maan always show the band’s many different angles. Their link to a couple of
young Belgian visual artists had them playing at art galleries a lot when
they just started out. That might be the reason that you could catch
them doing an hour long minimalist kraut mantra, using only trumpet and
voice, as well as a more traditional song based basement gig.</span></p>

poetry, cassette collages, tape-echos, tape loops modular synth explorations
and text-sound compositions… Beyt al Tapes is a tape playing &
releasing entity, who likes to use old bed sheets as its dress. This creature
of the night is most often found in between the bermuda triangle gent-antwerp-brussels.

<p class=""><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial">Der
Geräuschmusiker Jan Iwers kommt ursprünglich aus Kiel, lebt und arbeitet jedoch
seit mehreren Jahren in unterschiedlichen Ländern Süd-Ost Asiens. In diesem
Sommer gibt er ein Konzert im Kunstkreis Preetz, das Erste in Deutschland seit
über zehn Jahren. Mit seinem Ein-Mann-Projekt No bewegt er sich seit etwa
zwanzig Jahren jenseits musikalischer Konventionen und zum Teil an den Grenzen
des hörbaren Spektrums. Oft stellt er gefundene Audiodokumente Natur- oder
naturähnlichen Aufnahmen gegenüber. Sogenannte „Klangfehler“ wie Rauschen oder
Rückkopplungen bilden als eigenständige Merkmale den Mittelpunkt. Am 31. Juli
präsentiert Jan Iwers eine Reihe von Kassettendecks, die durch eine
Bandschleife miteinander verbunden sind, sowie „natur-identischen“ Phänomene
die durch minimale Eingriffe hervorrufen werden. Zum ersten Mal arbeitet er
auch mit reduzierten Lichtelementen. </span></p>
<p class=""><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial">Im Gesprächen
mit Klangkunstinteressierten kommt oft die Frage auf, wie sich Jan Iwers‘
Geräuschforschungen in der neuen Süd-Ost Asiatischen Umgebenung verändert hat.
„Überraschender Weise hat sich wenig geändert. Ich habe eher das Gefühl, dass
sich meine akustische Realität das passende Umfeld gesucht und gefunden hat.“ </span></p>
<p class=""><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial">Die
Veranstaltungsreihe Klang-Galerie findet jeden letzten Donnerstag im Kunstkreis
Preetz statt. Sie bietet experimentellen und Geräusch-orientien Musikern ein
Forum und wurde von Wolfgang Neven und Greta Schmitthammer ins Leben gerufen.
