Eamon Sprod

Melbourne-based sound artist Eamon Sprod works with
spatialised performance and installations to shape speculative
audio spaces introduced into pre-existing physical or
architectural forms. With sounds borrowed from mundane or
over-looked/under-heard urban spaces, he shapes dynamic,
fragmented audio collages, pursuing an anti-naturalist field
recording practice to tease oblique narratives from the everyday,
working to include everyday spaces as active participants in aural
experiences rather than simply acting as their container.

Duo Ståle Liavik Solberg & Inga StenøienWhen listening to
Inga Stenøien and Ståle Liavik Solberg, you encounter a meeting
between two improvising musicians from Oslo with a lot on their
hearts. With different musical backgrounds, they come together in
their search for fresh approaches to a vibrant tradition of free
improvised music.

Together, they merge guitar and drums into a single, expressive
force, using unconventional techniques and a shared spirit of
curiosity to redefine free improvisation. Their performances are a
testament to the power of spontaneous creation and the endless
possibilities of sound.

Hamburg Free-Improv Community Vol.3

Let's come and play together!

The Hamburg Free-Improv Community gives a space where musicians,
listeners, and curious minds come together through the practice of
improvisation. We see improvisation not only as an artistic method,
but also as a way of learning, exchanging, and connecting across
boundaries.
By bringing together different practices and traditions, we focus on
building bridges between genres, generations, and artistic
approaches-while encouraging interaction and opening doors to fresh
perspectives.
In this ongoing “laboratory,” we aim to create a respectful and
inspiring environment where musicians and audiences share in the joy
of collective creativity. By sharing the process openly, we invite
listeners to witness moments of discovery and experience music as it
is created in real time.

This idea was inspired by the Neu Berlin Institute of Improvised
Music, founded in 2023, and the Neu New York/Vienna Institute of
Improvised Music, founded in Vienna in 2005

Joss Turnbull / Corprès / Die Fliege träumt

Joss Turnbull

Joss Turnbull has developed a sound language with his main
instrument, the Iranian goblet drum zarb, that breaks with
conventional boundaries. With the help of unorthodox instrumental
extensions such as rubber balls, tremolo sticks, foils and live
sampling, he creates sonic spaces that are both minimalist and
overwhelming. Turnbull sees his playing as “struggle drumming”: a
form of musical expression that combines existential urgency with
radical openness. At the heart of his work are fundamental
questions: How can traditional playing styles be combined with
experimental improvisation? What happens when sound is used as a
means of questioning listening habits? What does radical openness
sound like?

Corprès

Corprès is the alter ego of the solo project of the multifaceted
artist Joan Torné. Based in Barcelona he is an active figure on the
city's free improvisation and sound experimentation scene. He has
toured around Europe and Mexico.
His work is based on a performative action where improvisation and
experimentation are the only premises, using various electronic
devices as a means of communication. His performance is driven by
the sensations of the moment and the venue, resulting in a live show
that is always different and fresh.

Die Fliege träumt

Sophia Lund was born in Saarland, grew up in a village and later
joined the local punk scene. She studied costume design in Hamburg
and theatre/film design in Amsterdam and works as an
interdisciplinary artist in the fields of film, theatre and social
interactions. Her musical home is synths, which are combined with
field recordings. Sophia gives concerts at art jams, designed the
soundesign for a radio play and played as a support act for bands.
She will perform an experimental electronic ambient live set for
modular and semi-modular sound synthesis performed by a large fly.
Improvised non-reproducible sounds and field recordings merge into
each other, floating into atmospheric soundscapes in which drones
become beats and beats become drones.
