James Eck Rippie

James Eck Rippie is a musician and visual artist originally from Nashville, TN and currently resides in Texas. His work utilizes samples manipulated through variations of synthesis, turntable and electronics, and often explores the psychological impressions that juxtaposition and abstraction procure. Drawing from his extensive experience as a sound engineer in the film industry, Rippie infuses his work with aural dynamism, crafting compositions that serve as gateways to the subconscious narrative, creating what one reviewer noted as "a soundtrack to curiosity".

Rrill Bell
Born and raised in the US-American Rust Belt, and a resident of Germany for over two-and-a-half decades, Rrill Bell draws on the formative inspirations of radical scratch culture, Cagean thought, harmolodics, musique concréte and various other strains of experimental music practice. Originally rooted in the world of improvisational performance, over the past decade his work has expanded to include various hybrid approaches to location recording, augmented reality, composition, and audio narrative.

Yuri Akbalkan

Yuri Akbalkan is a Russian-born composer and sound artist working in the field of multimedia art. After moving between St Petersburg and Cologne, he currently resides in Hamburg, where he is conducting artistic research on perceptual construction in art at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama. In his practice, Akbalkan explores multiple artistic disciplines, ranging from instrumental and electroacoustic music to improvisation and conceptual theatre.

Frank Vis
Frank Vis is a noise musician and improviser from Amsterdam. He is making sounds with a modular synthesizer for the last years, focussing on making the system an improvisation machine that is able to make quick changes that make the voltages fluid. As a vocalist and electronic improviser he played with different artists and groups like the FCKN BSTRDS and Dagora during the last 20 years, and started the duo Cybine Combinations with drummer Marcio Gibson recently. As an organiser he initiated the SOTU Festival and related shows running it with friends in the Netherlands to fuel the noise & underground movement

Bald Bald Trio
A double emphasis on what is just around the corner? It speaks to the idea of something imminent, something almost here, but not quite yet—an energy building, a moment just about to arrive. An acknowledgment of the space we inhabit while waiting for things to unfold, a space that is often filled with both excitement and uncertainty. Together with Hamburg scene musicians Joshua Weiß (drums) and Melanie Streitmatter (bass), guitarist and composer Pouya Abdi brings to light a trio with new compositions, ideas, sounds and colors. With influences including indie, blues and world music, but also embodying a great connection to the jazz tradition and standards, this band celebrates the joy of playing music as well as the love for it. Through wide sound-spheres, childlike risk-taking interactions and the use of many different facets of the instruments, a new, exciting sound is created with acoustic guitar, bells and bows.

ECOllective Ensemble is a Hamburg-based group navigating the edges of free improvisation, where melody and rhythm serve as anchors amidst moments of chaos and abstraction. Over the past two years, the ensemble has cultivated a shared language rooted in deep listening, spontaneity, and a curiosity for where sound can lead. Their practice embraces both structure and unpredictability, resulting in music that feels exploratory yet grounded. Collaborations have included acclaimed drummer Moritz Baumgärtner at JazzHall Hamburg, and celebrated dancer Annick Schadeck for a performance at the Kunsthalle Hamburg. For their appearance at Hörbar, ECollective will improvise a live soundtrack to film — a fleeting dialogue between moving images and sound.
